There’s just something about everybody piled on the couch in matching pajamas.

With 8 kids, our house is loud and crazy most of the year. But Christmas? Christmas we slow down. The tree’s lit, the hot chocolate is on, a movie nobody can agree on is playing anyway — and every single one of us, from mom and dad down to the littlest, is wearing the same silly, cozy pajamas.

Why matching pajamas became OUR thing

It started as a photo thing, if we’re being honest. Trying to get 10 people to look cute in a Christmas picture is hard enough — matching PJs made everybody look like we planned it (we did not).

But somewhere along the way it stopped being about the picture. The kids started ASKING for them. The big kids too — teenagers who act too cool for everything else will still show up on Christmas Eve expecting their matching set. It became the uniform of our favorite night of the year: new pajamas on Christmas Eve, hot chocolate, the Christmas story, and everybody together in one room.

That’s the real magic. It’s not the pajamas. It’s that once a year, all ten of us match — because we belong to each other.

The ones we found this year

This year’s sets are from PatPat’s Family Matching collection, and y’all — the prints this year are GOOD:

• Fair Isle in red, for the classic Christmas-card look
• Gingerbread print, because somebody in this house is always hungry

What sold us: the sizes go from baby all the way up to adult 4XL, so one order actually covers our whole crew — no small miracle when you’re outfitting ten people. And most of the sets start under $8 apiece, which matters a LOT when you’re buying ten of everything!
